The people behind My Car

My Car started the way most good things do: with a genuine love for what we do and no desire to do anything else.

Hennie

Hennie built the business from the ground up, qualifying as an auto electrician in 1996 and never stopping there. He kept learning, kept growing, and worked his way up through every layer of the trade until cars had very few secrets left to keep from him.

Francois

Francois's road was a little different, but no less passionate. He started out as a teacher, and if you spend any time with him, that still shows. He loves nothing more than walking you through a car properly and explaining what you're looking at and why it matters. Eventually the love for cars pulled him fully into the mechanical world, where he found his specialty in turbos.

We've been old friends long before we became business partners, and between the two of us we bring over 30 years of serious, hands-on experience to every car on this lot. What shaped the way we do business wasn't just the years, though. It was the bad experiences. We've both seen first-hand what dishonest dealing looks like, and we made a decision early on that My Car would be the opposite of that.

Built to make cars reliable, not just sellable

That's why we built our own in-house workshop. Not to make cars look good for sale, but to make them genuinely reliable. Every vehicle gets gone through properly before it reaches you: fixed, replaced, or repaired wherever needed.

Our standard

Would we hand the keys to our mom or daughter and feel completely comfortable? If the answer isn't yes, it doesn't go on the lot.

Our passion for cars isn't something we switch off either. We're the kind of guys who'll pause a car show to phone each other about something we just found interesting. It's just who we are, and it shows in the way we work.

What we hope you notice most when you deal with us, though, isn't just the cars. We genuinely want to know who you are, not just what you're looking for. We'll happily chat about your life, ask about your family, and we've been known to ask customers the meaning of their name, and we meant it.

At My Car, you're not just buying a used car. You're buying one that we personally staked our reputation on.
